6 to 8 PM at Amylin Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Bob Riffenburgh will report on local and national ASA activities.

and Bioinformatics Shared Resrouce at the Moores Cancer Center, will be
giving a talk on "Phase II Clinical Trials in Oncology".

The SDASA recently participated in the 50th Annual Greater
San Diego Science and Engineering Fair. This year 730 middle
school and high school students participated. Individual scientists
and professional organizations judge the merits of their projects
during several rounds of judging. SDASA members participated as a
judging team in the professional organizations' round. /

is Saturday, May 5th in the Little Theater
at San Diego State University.

Dr. Duane Steffey is Director of Statistical and Data Sciences at
Exponent and will give a talk
entitled "Interesting Times and Opportunities for Statisticians in
Academia, Industry and Government".

The SDASA and Pfizer La Jolla Laboratories are pleased to announce that
Cyrus R. Mehta, PhD of

Statistical Software and Services and the
Harvard University
School of Public Health will be giving a talk on
Flexible Adaptive Trial
Design: Improving the Return on Clinical Trials on Wednesday, the
7th of June at
Pfizer La Jolla Laboratories.
There will be a reception from 5-6 PM and the talk will run from 6-7 PM.

Molecular Genetics at UCSD.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Robert Newcomb,
Director of the Statistical Consulting Center in the
Social Science Department at UC Irvine.
Peggy Wallace, CEO of Making Conversation, LLC,
will be giving a talk on Tips for the Interview.

The SDASA is pleased to announce a set of lectures by
Professor Helena Kraemer of Stanford University.
Professor Kraemer's lectures on
Power in Randomized
Clinical Trials: Some Old and New Ideas
and
Clinically Interpretable Effect
Sizes: Their Role in Study Design, Interpretation,
and Meta Analysis
will be followed by
a Panel Discussion and Question and Answer Session.
Lectures and discussion will take place on Wednesday, the 26th of April, from 11 AM to 4 PM in Room 107 of the Leichtag Building at UCSD. Please reply to Sheela Talwalker by April 23rd, if you plan to attend. The price for the lectures and discussion is $30 ($20 with a valid student ID) before the 23rd and $40 ($30) thereafter. |
